Committees

Board / Executive Committee
The Board of Directors is comprised of 12 Directors from all three districts, and three non voting Board members: an attorney, Board Advisor, and member of the public. The Executive Committee includes the President, President Elect, VP, Treasurer, and Secretary. Membership to the Executive Committee is limited to those who have been elected/appointed to these positions.
Education Committee
Webinars, held at least 10 times per year, are an important function of MPA. This committee is led by a Chairperson and is always in need of volunteers to assist with various functions of ensuring MPA continues to put on quality, informative educational programs. Membership on this committee is open to all MPA members, regardless of category. Each member may add/remove themselves from this committee by logging into your MPA membership profile.
Elections Committee
This Committee is comprised of a Chairperson, who is not on the Board, the Board Advisor, general members, and one Liaison to the Board (a Director who is not privy to forms and information from the Elections Committee, but serves as a resource to the Committee, as needed). Membership on this committee is open to all MPA members, regardless of category. Each member may add/remove themselves from this committee by logging into your MPA membership profile.
Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee is an integral function of our association. This committee is led by a Chairperson, with volunteer members from both within the ranks of MPA and in the community. The Committee can assist with directing inquiries to the appropriate source, or assisting with checks of our bylaws and governing documents, opening an investigation/complaint with the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel. Membership on this committee is open to all MPA members, regardless of category. Each member may add/remove themselves from this committee by logging into your MPA membership profile.
Finance / Budget Committee
The Budget Committee is led by the Treasurer as chairperson and supported by other interested members. It’s primarily responsible for creating the annual budget for the Association and providing accurate reports to the members to ensure that funds are being allocated appropriately. Membership on this committee is open to all MPA Executive Committee members.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is led by a Chairperson and supported by volunteers from the organization. It's function is to review membership applications, make recommendations for approvals/transfers, ensure Bylaw requirements are met for membership categories, maintain the organization's official membership records, initiate and handle membership renewal processes each year, provide reports at least bi-monthly to the board, and make recommendations for membership changes as needed.
Social Media
This Committee is responsible for ensuring the Association's messaging, branding, and goals are communicated effectively to the public through myriad social channels in a consistent and ethical manner.
Students Committee
This Committee is led by a Chairperson and serves as the liaison for student members and the Board. The purpose of the Committee is to assist with needs of our student or prospective student members. Technology Committee
This Committee is available to all interested MPA members who would like to improve our website or other technology used to communicate with our members and business partners. Membership on this committee is open to all MPA members, regardless of category. Each member may add/remove themselves from this committee by logging into your MPA membership profile.
Ways and Means
This committee anticipates the future financial needs of the organization and partners with businesses relevant to paralegals and the legal industry, fundraises as needed, and makes recommendations on budget issues to the Finance/Budget Committee as needed.
